Ai Co-Facilitator

Last month I had my first experience 𝐜𝐨-𝐟𝐚𝐜𝐒π₯𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐒𝐧𝐠 𝐰𝐒𝐭𝐑 𝐚𝐒 - at the brilliant EuroIA conference. And I'm hooked 🀘

Elena Hansmann and I were invited to host a Mischief Makers B.V. session on 'How to facilitate the future’. We knew we would be missing a trick, if we didn't take this as the perfect opportunity to play with what ai can bring to the workshop table.

It was brilliant at...

⚑️ Lightning speed synthesizing

⚑️ Turning insights into inspiring stimulus for generative exercises

⚑️ Recommending next steps & practical applications for the group's ideas

⚑️ Designing recommendations for follow-ups & future sessions

Within the session itself, this unlocked deep discussions about the opportunities and challenges surrounding a more remote, hybrid, and flexible world of work. It helped us dream up how this generation of professionals can play a role in making sure workplaces become more human, inclusive, and engaging spaces to be.

Not bad, eh? If you're ready to get hooked into ai co-facilitating too, here are some of our top learnings so far:

πŸ’‘ 3 is the magic number, 2 human facilitators + ai. While one facilitator works together with the ai - the other can continue with the group to create a seamless input/output experience

πŸ’‘ Using beautiful interactive tools like Miro and Mentimeter as a bridge to gather input creates a more inclusive experience for different levels of tech familiarity

πŸ’‘ Take the ai-generated content with a healthy dose of critical thinking. The group still very much needs to work it. It's a contribution, to compliment and get things flowing but your session should not be reliant on its quality without the human touch added (π˜ͺ𝘡'𝘴 𝘨𝘰𝘡 𝘒 𝘭π˜ͺ𝘡𝘡𝘭𝘦 𝘸𝘒𝘺 𝘡𝘰 𝘨𝘰 𝘺𝘦𝘡 πŸ˜‰ )

πŸ’‘ Introduce 'tech patience' with the group, inviting them to embrace and enjoy the experimental nature

πŸ’‘Your ai co-facilitator can only be as good as you believe it to be. Get creative with how you weave it into your delivery - push the boundaries of how it can be used

Thank you EuroIA for hosting a truly brilliant gathering - bringing together inspiring and pioneering participants, and for inviting us to contribute.

Andrea Vos 🦊, Myles Washington III (he/him/his) you've made something really special there 😎
